The Irish Quaternary Association has undertaken a project of documenting and sharing the history of Quaternary Science in Ireland and in particular the lives and work of the main actors and actresses involved. It all started at the spring meeting of 2018 in the Hunt Museum in Limerick, entitled “Standing on the shoulders of Giants”, where a number of lectures introduced people like Robert Lloyd Praeger, Sydney Mary Thomson and Frank Mitchell. These contributions and many more, totalling 22 articles, were packaged in this booklet which was officially launched in April 2019 at the National Botanics Garden.
